Why use DNA to test your Ancestry?

Discover who your ancestors were, how they lived and moved throughout the globe, and connect with your other descendants from around the world.  Whether you are just starting to investigate your heritage, or are a seasoned genealogist, these DNA findings will accelerate your research!  All it takes is a cheek swab.

Our ancestry DNA testing offers an unprecedented window into the past, allowing you to uncover your heritage in a way that no traditional research method can compare.  These tests work by analyzing variations in your DNA that change very, very slowly.  This sort of time frame allows an individual to look further into the past than any other traditional method of testing.

Maternal Ancestry DNA Test

Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is unique in that it is only passed on from your mother’s side.  So, whether you are male or female, you still receive mitochondrial DNA from an unbroken maternal line.  This pattern of inheritance provides a “direct line” that can be traced back tens of thousands of years.

What kind of information will I receive?

  • Determine your Mitochondrial Haplogroup
  • Learn how your maternal ancestors expanded out of Africa
  • Discover current living relatives
  • Confirm genealogical links through maternal line
  • Compare the frequency of your heritage across worldwide populations

Paternal Ancestry DNA Test

Y-Chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) is unique because it is only passed on from the paternal side, from father to son.  Due to this pattern of inheritance, only males are able to participate in this test.  However, if you are a woman and are curious as to your paternal heritage, all you need to do is have a male (father, brother, grandfather) from your direct bloodline submit a DNA sample.

What kind of information will I receive?

  • Determine your Y-Haplogroup
  • Learn how your paternal ancestors expanded out of Africa
  • Discover current living relatives
  • Confirm genealogical links through paternal line
  • Compare the frequency of your heritage across worldwide populations
